Digital Storytelling

The Article "Digital Storytelling: Using Photo Story 3 to Create Digital Stories" describes digital storytelling as a new idea, "a modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital storytelling continues to share knowledge, wisdom, and values through the use of visuals and technology.

Microsoft Photo Story 3 is a free application that helps students create videos of stories from their photos. Students can learn to import & edit photographs. As well as learn to insert titles, record narrations, add music to the background, add visuals and transition effects. Photo Story 3 is a great tool to use to create digital stories.  Teachers must obtain proper education and training so that they can teach students how to use Photo Story 3 and integrate pictures into a story to create a digital story.

The article states that "digital storytelling is particularly useful for promoting independent learning, motivating students, extending and enriching the curriculum of the more able, and promoting explanation, interpretation and personal viewpoints."
